Colin Farrell’s Road To Becoming Ireland’s Greatest Actors

Early Life

Most Irish names like Caoimhe, Saoirse, Pádraig, Ruaidhri, Sadhbh, and Oisín are difficult for non-Irish people to pronounce, but Colin James Farrell is an exception. It’s as if his parents, Rita and Eamon Farrell, knew he would someday make it big in Hollywood and that they don’t want to give his American fans and the rest of the world a hard time pronouncing his name.

No one in Colin Farrell’s family was in show business, but he auditioned to be in the popular boy band Boyzone, but he didn’t make the cut. To be honest, it’s sort of a blessing in disguise because, between being in a boy band and being a Hollywood actor, the latter is, without a doubt, a better option. The first time acting ever came into his mind was when he got emotional seeing Henry Thomas in the film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

After Colin Farrell became interested in acting, his brother Eamon, Jr. convinced him to attend the Gaiety School of Acting, only to drop out when he landed a role in the BBC TV drama Ballykissangel. His film debut was in the 1999 British war drama The War Zone, and soon after that, he also starred in his first American films in 2001’s American Outlaws. From 2002 to 2003, he landed leading roles in three thrillers: Phone Booth, The Recruit, and S.W.A.T., which would become his breakthrough performances, making him a household name.

Since Colin Farrell crossed over to Hollywood, his rise to superstardom didn’t stop as he continued landing films after films, like Minority Report, Daredevil, Alexander, and The New World. 2008’s In Bruges gave him his first Golden Globe Award, which caused him to become a more in-demand and acclaimed actor. He continued starring in blockbuster hits and important films such as Crazy Heart, The Way Back, Fright Night, The Lobster, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Beguiled, and many more.

For all of his roles, you’ve seen him with different looks that he may even be unrecognizable sometimes.  Colin Farrell had long hair, bald head, and he looked different for every character he plays as he embodied every role he’s in, so you know he deserves the title of being one of the greatest actors.

Besides films, he has also worked in some T.V. series, including Falling for a Dancer, True Detective, and The North Water. These projects and his upcoming films have brought Colin Farrell’s net worth to an astounding $80 million. So, yes, not making it in Boyzone definitely worked out for the better for him.
