How To Make Slime With Baking Soda

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • Shampoo or dish soap (about 1 tbsp)
  • Optional: food coloring

You don’t need to be perfect with the ingredient proportions while using this slime formula. 

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1 tbsp of dish cleanser or shampoo; then, stir them well. The slime should be the shade of the shampoo or dishwashing detergents; if wanted, add food dye. Afterward, continue to add shampoo until you get your desired consistency.

If you add excessive shampoo into your slime, use more baking soda. It will also perform with 2-in-1 hair products. As a result, the slime’s consistency will be lighter and squishier.

How To Make Slime With Laundry Detergent

What to prepare:

  • Laundry detergent
  • Glue
  • Food dye (and different decorations like sparkles)
  • Mixing container
  • Spoon
  • Sealed container

In a container, combine 1/2 cup of your glue of choice. Select a container that you will only use for DIYs. Hardly any of the items are edible, and while they’re not poisonous, I like having separate containers for crafting.

If preferred, add food dye or sparkles. First, mix entirely into your mixture. Then, using a spoon, gently mix all of the ingredients. Then, introduce wet washing detergent (your activator!). Start stirring with a spoon. Continue until the solution starts to clump, which should occur fast.

Do it over and over, a little at a time, until the slime is thoroughly blended and doesn’t adhere to the edges of the container anymore. Then, begin kneading the mixture using your hands so that it develops. At this point, you can add anything you like. Keep mixing until the slime is fully developed and adequately mixed.

How To Make Blue Slime

To make the blue slime, you’ll need some basic slime ingredients like: 

  • 1 cup white glue
  • 1 cup shaving cream
  • 1-2 Tablespoons of liquid starch
  • A few drops of food coloring

The most crucial factor in creating this soft blue slime is the shaving cream. It is most effective when using conventional shaving cream. Indeed, the trick to making this slime soft is to use cheap shaving cream!

When you have all you need to create stretchable fluffy slime, it’s time to start making blue slimes!

Fill a container halfway with glue. Combine the shaving cream and a couple of drops of food dye in a bowl and stir. If you wish to add any embellishments, such as sparkles, do that now and stir them into your mixture!

Next, pour in the liquid starch using a scoop or spoon. This is the only phase that may go wrong! Take it easy with the liquid starch, as you would not want to overdo it!

A spoonful at a time, add the liquid starch. Begin with 1 tbsp and whisk it in. The mixture will rapidly develop. If you begin with plenty of liquid starch, your slime will become extremely stiff. Begin with one spoonful and add more.

Knead the mixture for a couple of minutes to eliminate the stickiness. Then, add a little more starch if your blue squishy slime is still clinging to your fingers after kneading it for a while. If necessary, you can add extra starch to the mixture as you knead.

P/s: If you don’t have blue food dye, try color mixing from other colors.

How To Make Clear Slime

Ingredients for clear slime include:

  • 1/2 cup of clear glue 
  • 1/4 cup of warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1  tablespoon of Contact lens solution

Note: Your contact lens liquid must include boric acid and sodium borate. Refer to the product’s ingredient table for more information.

Grab your slime-making ingredients and pour them into a mixing container. Combine the baking soda with lukewarm water till the baking soda is thoroughly mixed.

Gently stir the water solution with transparent glue. Swirl slowly when creating your slime to avoid the transparent glue from forming too many air pockets and becoming foggy.

Pour in the contact solution gradually until it becomes slimy. When the slime begins to peel away from the container, get it out, then knead it for a couple of minutes using your fingers.

Place it in a clean, airtight container for 1-3 nights, or until the bubbles have disappeared. Before taking your slime out, make sure the bubbles have disappeared.

There could be tiny bubbles on the surface that would not disappear after several days – in this case, skip those bubbles and use your slime as you usually do. Also, take caution not to overmix the slime when pulling it out of the container. Bubbles will appear as soon as you begin stirring the slime excessively.

How To Make Your Slime Stretchy

Slimes aren’t slimes if they’re not stretchy. Thus, here are some of our best tricks for creating stretchy slime.:

  • Pour your activator in gradually slowly: If you pour all of your activators in one go, you may rapidly go from sticky to extremely firm, breaking apart slime. Overactivated slime is far harder to deal with.
  • Utilize white glue: A conventional white PVA adhesive like Elmers, or other school-type DIY glues, offers the most pleasing effects. Indeed, the structural formula of clear glue differs from PVA glue.
  • Take your time: The activator may require a few minutes to activate. As a result, it is critical to allow your slime to expand before adding more components.
  • Pour dishwashing solution into your slime and knead it in carefully: This method performs well with regular dishwashing liquid rather than a strong dish cleanser.
  • Use water or lotion: One of these 2 substances can benefit your slime if overactivated. Gradually, a bit at a time, pour it in. Then, re-knead your slime till you’re sure you don’t need any extra water or lotion.

This last trick has nothing to do with making slime squishy and stretchy. Instead, it’s about keeping your present fluffy and stretchy slime’s excellent texture.

  • Protect it: Store it in a sealed jar when you’re done. This keeps your slime from dehydrating and risking its stretchiness.

Why Is My Slime Sticky? 

Sticky slime is caused by a lack of polymer strands that are firmly coupled together. This can occur if there isn’t enough activator in the mixture or if it hasn’t had enough time to develop.

So, how to make slime less sticky?

If your slime gets too sticky, the first step you should take is to knead it even more. This gives the activator more room to work, turning your slime less sticky.

If this doesn’t help and you’re sure you’ve left it there for a while, you may try adding extra activators. Yet, just add a tiny bit at a time, carefully stirring it in and waiting for it to activate. Or else, you’ll wind up with hard, brittle slime.

Why Does My Slime Break Apart? 

If there are excessive activators in the mixture, slime falls apart. This is because the slime’s “chains of threads” are stuck together so firmly that they can no longer glide over one other and move. Instead, they remain stuck together, and the slime crumbles.

The simplest method to deal with slime that has broken apart is introducing extra water or glue. Unfortunately, there may be cases when you don’t have any extra adhesive at home or when the water simply doesn’t work.

Fortunately, there are 2 more helpful methods for fixing slime that has broken apart. First, you may utilize either heat or lotion. By warming the slime, you might be able to disrupt a few of the activator’s linkages, allowing it to flow freely.

To use this technique, either:

  • Dip your slime in lukewarm water for a few minutes. When the water has cooled, massage and stretch your slime in it. After you repeat this technique repeatedly, the slime can turn stretchy anew.
  • Microwave your slime for 1 min 30 secs in a microwave-safe container. Massage and spread your slime once it’s cool enough to handle. This method may also need to be repeated numerous times.

If you want to apply lotion, follow these steps.

Add a teaspoonful of hand cream to the slime in a container. Knead the cream into your slime with your fingertips. Slowly add additional cream until the right texture is reached.
