Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is the official title of the film that many might find lengthy, which is why many just call it Night at the Museum 2 or the second Night at the Museum. Plot Synopsis – Larry Daley Is No Longer A Night Guard, But He Will Be Back In The Museum

Ben Stiller’s Larry Daley has resigned from his position as a night guard at the Museum of Natural History in Night at the Museum 2. He is now pursuing a career in product development and marketing for different products, including a glow-in-the-dark torch. To see his historical friends who come alive at night, he pays a visit to the museum, where he learns of the unfortunate news about them about to be moved to Washington’s Smithsonian Museum for long-term storage. Despite feeling heartbroken, Larry says his goodbyes to his friends as it’s out of his hands to make them stay in the museum.

Soon after, Larry receives a distress call from Owen Wilson’s Jed, his cowboy pal. Jed begs Larry to come to Washington to defend his companions from the evil pharaoh Kahmunrah (played by Hank Azaria) and his henchmen. As Larry seeks to help his friends, an adventure-filled war takes place between some of the newer historical figures that come to life.

Night at the Museum 2’s cast has grown bigger after the box office success of the first film. While most film critics gave all films in the franchise a thumbs down, the first film has a box office earning of $574.5 million against a $110 million budget. The sequel experienced nearly the same fate generating almost $413 million on a budget of $150 million, which is why it’s more action-packed with more prominent names in the cast. Ben Stiller As Larry

Ben Stiller plays Lawrence Daley, called “Larry” throughout most of the films. He works in the American Museum of Natural History as a night-shift security guard, a position he resigned from to pursue his business in the sequel. He has a son named Nick from his former wife, Erica. 

Amy Adams As Amelia Earhart

Fans of the films and critics praised Amy Adams’ Amelia Earhart role as she usually gives her best performance in each role she lands. In the movie, she was able to bring to life the strength and vulnerability of the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean but mysteriously vanished. She also plays Larry’s love interest in the film.

Robin Williams As Theodore Roosevelt

Carla Gugino plays Rebecca Hutman, the museum’s tour guide, and Ricky Gervais plays Dr. McPhee, the curator of the Museum of Natural History. Dick Van Dyke, Bill Cobbs plays Reginald, and Mickey Rooney plays veteran security guards in the museum. Pierfrancesco Favino plays a bronze statue of Christopher Columbus, an Italian-speaking exhibit whose name Larry consistently forgets. Steve Coogan plays Octavius, a miniature Roman general figure. Mizuo Peck plays a polyurethane wax model of the Native American figure Sacagawea. 

Kerry van der Griend, Dan Rizzuto, Matthew Harrison, and Jody Racicot play the wax models of the Neanderthals. Martin Christopher and Martin Sims play wax models, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Patrick Gallagher is also in the film as Attila the Hun, an exhibit who antagonizes Larry at first. Randy Lee, Darryl Quon, Gerald Wong, and Paul Chih-Ping Cheng play the wax models of the rest of the Huns. Then the Easter Island Head is voiced by Brad Garrett. Crystal the Monkey plays Dexter, a stuffed Capuchin monkey – yes, the world-famous celebrity monkey plays a special role in the film, and we’re glad she’s properly credited.

Kim Raver plays Erica Daley, Larry’s ex-wife and Nick’s mother. Jake Cherry plays Nicholas Daley or Nick, Larry and Erica’s son. Paul Rudd plays Don, who is Erica’s new lover and fiancé.
