The Reason Behind Michael Cera’s Jersey Shore Cameo And More About That Fateful Episode

No one can’t seem to wrap their heads around Michael Cera’s Jersey Shore cameo as he looked out of place in it. But here is an explanation behind it.

Michael Cera’s Jersey Shore appearance weirded out many of his fans as he just doesn’t belong in the reality show. First off, he’s an aloof and awkward-looking actor known for his aloof and awkward movie roles, and Jersey Shore doesn’t seem to be the show he would be into as it follows the lives of eight people spending their summer in The Jersey Shore house. In the series, they’re usually flirting with each other, getting a tan, drinking like their lives depended on it, and more.

So, where does Michael Cera’s Jersey Shore cameo fit in all these? To people who don’t know much about the show or the actor, there’s barely any understandable explanation why he appeared in the show, all of a sudden. But alas, there is a simple explanation behind it that we can explore, along with some fun facts about the cast of the reality TV show.

Let’s Get To Know More About Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore Is Mostly Gym, Tan, Laundry Time

Between 2009 and 2012, the MTV reality show Jersey Shore aired for six seasons and became a pop culture phenomenon. The show has managed to popularize everything from the “fist pump” dance routine to expressions like “G.T.L.” or “Gym, Tan, Laundry”, which is what most of the Jersey Shore housemates were doing most of the time.

If you think it’s just another trash TV, you better think again as some of the show’s biggest fans include celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, and Beyoncé. Jennifer Lawrence also credited Jersey Shore as something that helped her achieve her New Jersey accent for her role in American Hustle.

Michael Cera Is Also A Fan Of The Show

Michael Cera is surprisingly a part of the Jersey Shore celebrity fans club, which is one of the reasons he became a part of the show, even if it was only a brief appearance. Of course, the actor’s acting style and himself don’t appear to fit with the in-your-face-ness of a program like Jersey Shore, which is why many found Michael Cera’s Jersey Shore cameo a breath of fresh air.

Most of Michael Cera’s fans know him for playing socially awkward characters like Scott Pilgrim in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, George Michael Bluth in Arrested Development, and other roles in lo-fi independent flicks. However, the actor’s interaction with the Jersey Shore crew showed he was quite at ease in the company of hard-partying reality TV show stars. Whether he was acting or really into it, he looked like he enjoyed his time there.

Michael Cera caught up with the cast in Manhattan in 2010, when he got a Jersey Shore makeover that included Pauly D giving him his famous hairstyle. Of course, Pauly D, without gel, looks just like a regular guy on his way to eat at Chick-fil-A, but his hair gel gives him the Jersey Shore look. So, it was no problem getting Cera to fit better with the Jersey Shore cast with only a few grams of gel.

We’ve been watching Jersey Shores too much that Pauly D, without gel looks surprisingly different. No one would recognize him without his signature hairstyle full of gel. I don’t know about you, but this looks better on him, though.

JWoww also gave Michael Cera his fake tan look to complete his Jersey Shore appeal. Besides that, he also shared a few alcoholic beers with the group and was taught how to dance by Pauly D, Vinny, and The Situation before wrapping out his time on the reality show with a classic Jersey Shore dip in a hot tub and pizza. Cera compared the experience to having his 8th birthday party as he hasn’t had that much fun in a long time.

Despite how at ease Michael Cera was with the Jersey Shore’s cast, actor Michael Cera had no intention of joining the cast. Of course, if he did such a thing, it might mean that he would have less time for his movies. Besides being a fan of the show, there is another reason he appeared in Jersey Shore – it was part of an MTV special created to promote Cera’s upcoming film Youth In Revolt at the time. So, sorry to break it to you, but it was only for marketing purposes that Cera ended up in the show.
